TERMS of REFERENCE

Job Outline
The Research Associate (RA) will be based in Kathmandu but need to make frequent visits to the districts to work at research and developmental programs related to nature conservation and environment management. S/he will support in preparing project proposals, preparing reports and conduct conservation campaigns.
Qualifications and Experience
The RA shall have at least a Master’s degree in a related subject especially in environment management, forestry, natural resources management and environment science. S/he shall have good skills of internet and world processing software. No previous working experience is necessary.
Main Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
- S/he will assist in preparing proposals, seek grant making organizations and make necessary contact with them, and communicate the information with Program Officers.
- S/he will participate in eco-club formation in different schools and conducting awareness camps for the mobilization of students for environmental conservation and sanitation. This shall include selecting and communicating with schools for performing above illustrated tasks.
- S/he will assist with the preparation and revision of reports, proposals and other project documents as necessary.
- S/he shall liaise closely with the focal persons of line agencies, as well as with the Friends of Nature Advisory Board as per the need.
- S/he should be able to assist in organizing talk programs and other advocacy programs in the sector of biodiversity conservation, climate change and resources management.
- S/he should be versatile in all the project transversal themes.
Terms of Employment
The Research Associate (RA) will initially be appointed on a fixed term contract for six months depending on satisfactory completion of the assigned tasks.
Remuneration and other benefits
The research associate will be paid as per the norms of Friends of Nature. The minimum salary will be NRS 5000 per month, but is still negotiable depending upon the expertise of the applicant. The expenses associated with field work will be covered. No other extra benefit will be provided.
