Forest and Resource Management
Out of the total land area of Nepal , forest and shrub covers about 29 and 10.6 percentages respectively. In one hand, forest degradation and deforestation rate are considerable and on the other most of the people of rural context are dependent on forest resource for their subsistence.
Addressing the issues related to forest degradation and loss of forest area are the greatest challenges that we face at the dawn of 21 st century, FON has established Forest and Resource Management section to contribute in sustainable forest and resource management.
The main objectives of this section are
To enhance the assets of rural communities through more equitable, efficient and sustainable use of forest resources
To carry out research activities in forestry especially that enhances socio-economic condition of people.
To prepare data base on forest quality and coverage
To develop tools and technology for better management of forest resource
To conduct different awareness programme
