The study entitled "Indigenous Knowledge of Tharus in Utilizing Plant" is an endeavor to document the traditional knowledge and practices of the Tharu community in utilizing plant. The study was based on different secondary data about the Tharus of Chitwan district of Central Nepal.
It was found that the study and documentation of traditional use pattern of plants is still lacking in Nepal , though these are very important for the development of new technologies like in the preparation of new medicines. The indigenous knowledge collected from local people is quite different and some may have the higher value. So, the assessment and the conservation effort for such reports are quite necessary. Though the study in this report has lack of field studies, the proper field studies with plenty of time are necessary for the generation of such type of report which will have importance for the future documentation.
The study concludes that the indigenous knowledge of Tharus has great importance and they should be studied and documented properly. Being a case study it is recommended that the study should be done for the other indigenous people to conserve the traditional use pattern of the species.
