“Bird Conservation”, a new wing of FON Nepal

 

Nepal 864 species of birds (8.84% of the world’s birds) which is disproportionately large considering its share of earth’s land surface i.e. 0.1%.  33 globally threatened species have been recorded in Nepal. The entire bird diversity in Nepal is threatened by the habitat fragmentation, poaching and weak awareness and implementation mechanism at the grass root level. The aims of this wing are,

  • Documentation of bird database
  • Study of ethno-bird relation
  • Prepare conservation materials
  • Explore the bird farming issue
  • Explore the impact of climate change on bird diversity
