Joint Research grant announcement from Himalayan Raptors Rescue and Friends of Nature

Study Title: Explore and document the hunting and trade of birds (focusing on birds of prey)

Objectives:

  1. Document the species wise hunting intensity , major trade routes and spots
  2. Document the stakeholder’s characteristics  involve in bird trafficking
  3. Explored and report the species/number of  seized birds and their status
  4. Recommend the conservation measures to combat with bird trafficking

Methods: Field visit, key informant interview, questionnaire survey, literature review, or any other relevant methods

Proposal submission deadline: 15th January, 2012

Study period: 2012 February – 2012 July

Study area: in and around Pokhara Valley

Grant amount: NPR. 40,000 (forty thousand only) (cash in hand)

Number of grants: One

Type of grantee: Nepali students (male/female) who are doing master in environment related topics. Master completed students can also apply. The grantee should closely work with the “Bird Conservation Initiation Trust” a non registered bird organization in Pokhara run by civil society and District Forest Office, Kaski.
